Members' Handicaps – Online access

As many of you may be aware, we offer all members who hold their handicap here at the Club (HOME CLUB) the ability to access their handicap information online via the eHandicap service on the Club's website www.lagunaphuketgolf.com. From there you can click the tab on the left hand side of the homepage tagged as "Members Handicaps", and just follow the instructions.

I would also like to take this opportunity to highlight some of the important steps members need to take to maintain a USGA Handicap Index.

  1. All 18-hole rounds, good or bad should be submitted for handicapping to your Home Club.
  2. Cards at the time of submission should be clearly marked with the name of the player, the date of play, the tees you played from and one other signature of your playing partner. If the card is not from Laguna, please ensure the "Slope Rating" is indicated.
  3. Scores must be written very clearly as any card where a number or numbers can not be deciphered will be discarded.
  4. A golfer should only ever maintain One Handicap. This handicap should be kept where he or she plays most of their golf. Rounds played at other Clubs should be sent in at least once a month via post addressed to the Director of Golf or the Handicap Manager of the Club that maintains their handicap. Submitting cards to multiple Clubs only dilutes your true handicap and may cause you problems when forced to play off the lowest handicap for Club events.
As your golfing ability changes, so should your handicap. As handicapping is a relevant and important part of playing golf, I am more that happy to take time out to answer any handicap related questions you may have, so please do not hesitate to drop me an email.

DIRECTOR OF GOLF'S CORNER

As we come to the end of yet another year, which has been a challenging one for us all on many different levels, we look forward to welcoming back all our returning members to the club for the high season. Events wise, along with the Stroke Play Championships in March, we are also now in the planning stages for the 2012 Members Cocktail which this year will be held on Saturday 25 February. We will keep you all updated as to the final details of this annual event on the clubs calendar.

I would also like to remind members to please bring their membership cards with them when using the clubs facilities so that pro shop can efficiently register you and your guests for play and the Banyan Café can apply the appropriate discounts to your bills.

Lastly, just a small reminder to all members as we start to move into the busy period, we kindly request that tee time bookings be made in advance and do not encourage members to turn up without a reservation. Following a pre-planned time sheet helps keep things running on time and allows us to keep the speed of play at 4 hours 20 minutes maximum per round. I do appreciate your assistance in this matter and look forward to a smooth and successful high season.

Hope to see you all at the Club in the near future and wish you all safe travels.

Tim Haddon
Director of Golf
